This compact unit is easy to install and requires minimal space. Every FPS 55 Series is factory vapor tested for integrity at .00038 micron, allowing CAF’s patented test procedure for validation. This same procedure, along with particulate testing, can be used to completely characterize environmental enclosure in the field. CAF has proven technology with over 30 years of experience.

System Operation

 

Airflow through the CAF FPS 55 Series system, with a CAF48R or CAF47R filter, is as follows:

 

1. Contaminated air is drawn into the system through the pre-cleaner. The circular motion of the pre-cleaner separates out larger particulates, dramatically increasing filter life.

 

2. Air passes through the three-stage primary filter.

  • Stage 1 is a standard PAPER media designed for the heavy dust environment of agricultural, industrial, mining, and off-road conditions. Also, the paper is superior in absorbing liquid aerosol droplets that are present in the air.

  • Stage 2 is respirator-grade ACTIVATED CARBON. The porous nature of this media effectively adsorbs organic vapors, such as diesel and chemical fumes. CAF’s customized, refined activated carbon works on surface area, and our patented design maximizes this principle.

  • Stage 3 is a sub-micron FINAL FILTER that provides protection of up to 99.998 @ 0.3µm while allowing maximum airflow.

 

3. Air exiting the FPS unit creates a positive flow of clean air inside a properly sealed cab. This positive flow pushes clean air out of the leaks in the micro-environment side of the system, rather than allowing contaminated air to enter. A differential pressure gauge is available to measure the difference in pressure between the inside and outside of the cab, monitoring flow rates and filter life.

An affordable methodology for quantifying filtration of airborne particulates on enclosed environments without an occupant. Directions / Protocol, using Optical Particle Counters (OPC) to determine (cab) protections factors. All OPC particulate testing is done at 0.3 micron (m). The range is 0.3 m to < 0.5 m. All cabs (operator micro environment) and filters, together or separate, in cab or in filter chamber, are tested at 0.3m at a range of 0.3m to < 0.5m for 30 minutes*a*b using the inside/outside ratio of the average of minutes #9 through #29. Cab leakage test minimum flow is 35.32 cfm (17.66 X 2) with a MPPS 99.95% filter or 99.98% @ 0.3m filter. First Test, as is, or / and If more than one fan speed, test at High and Low Test flow rate and cab protection factors If HVAC recirculation filter is used, test as is, or / and If more than one fan speed, test at High and Low Test flow rate and cab protection factors Test on both fresh and dirty recirculation filter (plugged is worst case scenario).
